Come join the Open Orchard and Social Landscapes for a session on Orchard Care and Maintenance in Hillside Gardens Park.

Over the last few years the community orchard in Hillside Gardens Park has grown to 15 trees through plantings with the Urban Orchard Project as well as the Open Orchard Project.

Some trees need summer pruning, others need mulching; we will plant russian comfrey around them to help build healthy soil and reduce the cages of larger trees to free up the crown.

This is a great opportunity for other community groups with orchards in the area to ask questions and get some ideas of what you can do in your orchards. There will be a short demonstration followed by a practical implementation of these techniques.
