A 2-day Introduction to Permaculture

Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of October 2021 in South London - The Platform Cafe near Loughborough Junction, London

Learn the basics of Permaculture Design on this two-day Introduction to Permaculture and get ready to try it out in your garden, your workplace and your life.

What will the Introduction to Permaculture course offer?

Permaculture London Social Landscapes PDC

This course introduces the basics of Permaculture and shows how this fascinating design methodology can profoundly change the way we look at the world and engage in it. The course gives participants an understanding of the diverse uses and applications of Permaculture Design and its immense potential of turning scarcity into abundance. Participants will walk away with:

… a clear understanding of what Permaculture is, its origins, the context under which it came about and its development;

… knowledge of its ethical framework, the basic ecological, attitudinal and some design principles;

… an overview of its applications in various fields, as a response to social, economic and environmental challenges and as a tool for personal transformation and social change;

… having tested the basic design methodology and various design tools such as zoning, sector analysis and input-output analysis;

… having visited a local project and engaged in some practical permaculture gardening activity;

… enthusiasm and inspiration, as well as some tools for continued learning and application.

"I found the Permaculture Principles we learned all relevant to my life. If I never touch a plant again, my life will still have been changed by this experience."

- Daniel, permaculture intro course participant

Tutors

The course will be delivered by Dre Ferdinand and Dan Priddle.

Dan

Dan completed his Permaculture Design Course with Social Landscapes in 2018 and is now working towards his Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. He runs a food-growing space in Camberwell and co-manages a forest garden in Loughborough Junction.

Dan teaches Permaculture and No-dig gardening. His interests are in food-growing and wildlife habitat in the urban environment. He brings a practical approach to learning and enthusiasm for the ecological application of permaculture principles. He lives in South London.

Dre

Dre

Dre was a participant in the 2016 Permaculture Design Course organised by Social Landscapes and later completed a diploma in horticulture with City and Guild in 2018.

Dre is currently based in South London where she runs a community garden. She also runs various community workshops and teaches on the Social Landscapes PDC and No-dig gardening. Her approach focuses on reconnecting with ancestral knowledge to create a sustainable future. She is fascinated by the cyclical relationship we have with nature as well as seeds and their story.

Practicalities:

Venue

The workshop venue is The Platform Cafe, a cosy cafe in Loughborough Junction, London. The address is 2 Ridgway Rd, London SW9 7AH.
